Our Team

Meet our Pastors

  • Rob McKenzie

Interim Pastor and Acting Senior Pastor

Rob will be filling in the roles of Intentional Interim Pastor and Acting Senior Pastor in 2024.

Rob has filled the role of interim pastor several times in churches in Victoria. He brings with him over 30 years of pastoral experience and over 20 years of experience as a senior pastor.

He was a part-time lecturer at Malyon College (back when it was Brisbane Theological College of QLD) and both he and his wife Jenny served as missionaries in Fiji.

Rob's journey to SDBC has come full circle - some might recall that he was a student pastor at SDBC back in the 80s!

  • Alvin Tam 譚紹球牧師

    Pastor

Alvin and his wife Cherry are originally from Hong Kong, and have lived in Brisbane since 2004. After arriving in Australia, he started studying at the Bible College of Queensland, initially as a part-time student and then studying full time for pastoral ministry.

Alvin likes playing chess and bridge. He enjoys studying the Bible and listening to music. Alvin's aspiration is to enrich the lives of people, so that they can live a meaningful, abundant and joyful life.

  • Trace Valentine

    Associate Pastor

Trace loves Jesus and calls it an honour to be able to serve alongside the people of SDBC to share his love and help others know Him better.

She is married to Glenn and together they have three young adult children and a son-in-law. Trace has been a Pastor for 15 years in various churches and studied at Malyon College. She has a passion for helping families create homes of faith and empowering the next generation to follow Jesus. She started at SDBC in 2022.

Trace loves to spend time with her family and exploring the country with Glenn. She enjoys reading and a good movie. She also loves having a cuppa with friends and has caught the Crochet bug - if she can do both at the same time, even better!

  • David Butterfield

    Associate Pastor

David is originally from South Australia but was transferred to Queensland in 1974 with the Australian Army for 6 years. David met Rosemary at the Ashgrove Baptist Church, they married in 1979 and today have a family of three married children and nine grandchildren.

Rosemary is a registered nurse and works in an aged care environment. David also has a background of 17 years with Queensland Ambulance Service and 8 years as Army Reserve Chaplain. He has been pastoring for 25 years and continues to marvel at God's amazing love and grace.

David still enjoys riding his Honda Africa Adventure bike. Rosemary and David also enjoy caravanning and travelling with lots of coffee stops.
